As the nature or marketing is about selling, and internet itself is a communication media, then you use your writings at your website or blog to sell something. Sometimes you may write a bit longer article on your blog explaining products or services you sell, or when you write emails. Some other time you may only write some words such as when you create a text ads.
Let say that you have a blog to run your internet marketing, then you need to write on it. To enable your blog get visitors, again you need to write at another blog or advertising service to introduce your blog. It is true when someday audio and video will dominate the website content, but nowadays text content is still commonly used. That is why writing is a core activity in internet marketing.
